Toy Story

In this exhibition you can see toys, all from our own collection, dating from the last 140 years. There are dolls and dolls' houses, Dinky cars and Hornby train, teddy bear and golly, Action Man, a rocking horse, puppets, Jack-in-a-box, building blocks, board games, miniature figures, roller skates, toys linked to television and film characters and many more as well as illustrations from children's books.

You can see how toys have changed over the years. Like other parts of our lives they have been influenced by developments in society, technology, fashion, education, economics and even politics. Come and see what you remember from your own childhood and compare them with those of your grandparents, parents and children.
