Down County Museum is an ideal venue for a group visit. Located in the eighteenth century buildings of the former County Gaol of Down, the museum contains restored cells with displays on prison conditions. There are also exhibitions on the history of County Down, the Normans in County Down and Early Christian Down. Click on our Events and Exhibitions page for more details of our special exhibitions.

The museum tearoom serves lunches and snacks. Contact us for details or for an all in price for tours and catering. Tour leaders and bus drivers can avail of free tea/coffee/scone. The museum shop sells a wide range of local crafts and souvenirs.
